Attention to All Possible (Potential, Too) Choir Hymnal Buffs!
The music committee here at First Parish has been sorting, deleting, dumping, donating, reorganizing our approaching hundred years worth of music. It’s a fascinating glimpse of the history here actually.
Music has ALWAYS been an integral part of our services here at FP Chelmsford so we have a LOT to sort through. Right now, we are finding new homes for our old hymnals. Newbies 😂… like anyone after 1990! The red one is ancient, with completely unacceptable language (but true to its time) and lovely choral 4 part arrangements. It’s the Christmas church words in your head if not your heart if you are over 40. The blue hymnal still has lovely playable 4 part harmonies- and the language is far more male/female aware but it’s not right for today. They stick to original poetry more than later incarnations so not going to fly now.
Regardless- WANT A HYMNAL? We will be putting a stack of them on the bench at our entrance each Sunday. Please take one if you are interested. Also, please don’t return them if you aren’t. Just rip the hard cover off front and back and then it’s recyclable paper. Please recycle.
