• How is First Parish is Flourishing?
• Where do we need to grow as a Congregation?
• What are the challenges we face?
• What should we let go?

Spirit of Life Project

Spirit of Life Project

The Spirit of Life Team’s goal last spring is to learn from current members and friends of First Parish of Chelmsford about, as we sing in the hymn “Spirit of Life”, the roots that hold you close to First Parish and the wings that set you free as you leave our sanctuary.

The team’s purpose is to assess the changing landscape not only post Covid but also our changing religious and spiritual needs. We are in the process of  facilitating a congregation-wide conversation about rediscovering and reimagining worship, faith formation, faith in action, and pastoral care.

In the Spring of 2024, we offered many opportunities for feedback such as coffee and conversations (including virtual conversations), conducted on-line surveys, hosted a table at social hour to both engage congregants and promote the project, and lead a worship service. We reported on our findings at the State of the Society Meeting in October 2024

Spirit of Life Slide Fall 2024

In the coming months, we will continue the conversation, with some deeper conversations, continuing the table at Social Hour, and a Congregational workshop in the spring

The team is made up of at least one member from the Standing Committee, our Faith Formation Director, and both long-term and new members from across the generations.

We hope you will join us on this journey of reflection and discovery!  You can contact us at spirit-of-life@UUChelmsford.org.
