That time of year again – the Auction is coming!

An important part of living through our covenant is supporting our community with our time, talent, and treasure. Our Annual Auction is usually thought of as focusing on treasure. This has left some members feeling left out of the festivities. But time and talent are what actually make the auction happen! These two kinds of donations are the backbone of our major fundraiser of the year. This year is a great time to step up and support First Parish in whatever way you can. Our previous Auction Team is exhausted after many years of hard work. A successful outline of the project is in place, and will support any newcomers to the task. Many different talents make a difference, and commitments can be as short as an hour one day or as much time as you like over several weeks. Take ownership of your part in raising a significant part of the budget that supports our entire community.

This year’s auction date will be March 15, with a snow date of March 22. These cold winter months are a great time to start sorting through closets, attics, and basements for items that would make other people happy! Lean into that New Year’s resolution to finally get organized. New or gently used home goods, sports equipment, accessories, books, and more will find a new home, and you will get a tax credit and a clean house. Leaf through your cookbooks and plan a dinner or party to offer. Consider tickets for events that don’t fit your schedule anymore. What talents or services do you have or could you teach? Nearly anything can be useful to someone in our community.
